 What's New

Cherokee Internal Medicine has move their offices to 1192 Buckhead Crossing. Previously, Dr. Akamatsu's offices were located at 2230 Towne Lake Parkway.

Sweet Offerings, a bakery and restaurant, recently opened their doors on Main Street in downtown Woodstock. They are located in the space formerly occupied by Tea Leaves & Thyme, who recently moved further south on Main Street, next door to Brenda's House of Flowers.

Also in downtown Woodstock, Serene Bean Café, a coffee shop with soups and sandwiches, has opened their doors in the space formerly occupied by Alida Lois Interior Design. "The Bean" also offers a variety of gourmet finger foods and "to go" specialties.

Christine's Creations on Arnold Mill Road, across from Woodstock City Hall, will be moving to a new location in mid-summer. They will occupy the space formerly known as the 1904 House Gift Shop.

Speaking of the 1904 House, they will be celebrating the 100th Birthday of the house on May 15.

A new office building will be going up on Towne Lake Parkway next to South Bank. The project is owned by the Woodstock Development Group, and co-developer Andrew Hartman said the building will have a historic, rustic feel to it. Towne Lake orthodontist Dr. Michael Williams and Hartman's law partner James Imbriale are the other co-owners and will all have offices in the new building.

Quiznos Sub Shop has opened its doors in the Shops at Eagle Pointe, adjacent to Stonebridge Tavern. Owner Ronald Gibbs said that he is extremely happy to be located in Towne Lake.

'G' Medical Spa will open soon in the Towne Lake Village Center next to El Ranchero. This spa will offer several skin and body care treatments, as well as permanent make-up and more.

Audler's Auto Body, Inc., a collision, repair and restoration center, has opened its doors on Commerce Parkway off Bells Ferry Road.

Slender Lady, "for ladies only" 30-minute body sculpting center, has opened its doors near the new Publix in the Towne Lake Center on Towne Lake Parkway.

Also in the Towne Lake Center, construction has started on a nine-unit retail facility. The units will face Buckhead Crossing.

After just a few weeks, Club Industry has closed its doors. Owner Wayne Kosbe said the Cherokee County Sheriff said it was a very well run, clean teen center. "Unfortunately we could not draw the crowds from the outlying areas to make this center work. Everyone here in the community endorsed it completely; we just needed other communities," Wayne explained.

Family Tradition
Great Southern Cooking
by Kara Kiefer

There's a new restaurant in town where the more you go in there, the more you will see a familiar face. Family Tradition restaurant brought something new and unique to the Towne Lake area, home-style Southern favorites, and it's fast becoming a place where "regulars" are an every day occurrence.

The Towne Lake Family Tradition is the second location for owners Matt and Jim Dixon. Their first location is in Hickory Flat. The Towne Lake eatery opened in December 2003. "We came to Towne Lake because it fit the demographics we were trying to cater to," stated Matt. "Our restaurants cater to young families with children and older couples who don't cook as much at home anymore," he continued. They offer their home-style menu choices in a smoke-free, alcohol-free environment.

Family Tradition serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, six days a week. The breakfast menu includes traditional favorites such as omelets, pancakes, French toast and stuffed biscuits. Most of their choices include a selection of side items such as fruit, biscuits, grits and my personal favorite, hash brown casserole. The lunch and dinner menu has an abundance of sandwiches, burgers and Family Tradition favorites including country fried steak and gravy, grilled chicken breast and T-bone steak. The menu is also supplemented by daily meat and vegetable specials. Fried chicken and chicken livers are available every day, lunch and dinner. The menu alone warrants multiple visits to the establishment! You may go there initially for the variety of choices Family Tradition offers, but you'll keep coming back for the taste and the quality of the food.

Family Tradition restaurant also offers catering, and the menus can be created from their existing menu selections or they can be custom created. Cookouts and sack lunches are also available for large groups. Whether you're craving a meal with authentic Southern flair or just need a respite from cooking, Family Tradition is there to welcome you.
