County Relay for Life
The
2004 Cherokee County Relay for Life will begin Friday, May 14 at 6 p.m.
and continue until Saturday, May 15 at 9 a.m. The event will be held at
the First Baptist Church of Woodstock. Relay for Life is an overnight
team event that celebrates cancer survivorship and community spirit. There
will be food, fun and lots of entertainment all night long. The event
is held rain or shine. All proceeds raised will benefit the American Cancer

Cherokee
County Senior ServicesExpands to Acworth
The
Cherokee County Senior Services recently announced the grand opening of
a new satellite center located at Heritage Presbyterian Church on Bells
Ferry Road. The Center is open from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Thursdays. Participants
should be at least 60 years old, have transportation to and from the Center

Tickets to Six Flags
and White Water
The
4-H department of Cherokee County Cooperative Extension Service is offering
discounted tickets to Six Flags and White Water. The tickets are available
at the Cherokee County Extension Service, 130 East Main Street, Suite

Gardening
with the Masters
The
Cherokee County Master Gardeners and the Cherokee County Cooperative Extension
Service will hold three gardening seminars during the month of May. On
May 1, Master Gardener Mariana Jackson will discuss how to create a container
garden. On May 15, Master Gardener Helen Ogren will discuss several aspects
of our feathered friends from housing to feeding. And on May 22, join
Master Gardener Martha Ann Slatton as she discusses how to create beautiful
concrete plant containers. The programs are held from 10 - 11:30 a.m.
at the Cherokee County Senior Center on Univeter Road. Seating is limited,

Indian
Festival and Pow Wow
The
14th Annual Cherokee County Indian Festival and Mother's Day Pow Wow will
be held May 7 - 9 at Boling Park in Canton. The event is the South's premier
Native American showcase with dancers, drummers, singers and educators
from numerous tribes across the country. Admission is $8 for adults and
$5 for children 12 and under. Children 3 and under are free. Proceeds
will benefit several non-profit organizations for the improvement of the
welfare of Native American communities.

Day America
On
Saturday, May 8 Ribley Family Chiropractic will hold their 5th Annual
Kids Day America event from 12 noon - 3 p.m. This day is dedicated to
teaching the children of the community about health, safety and environmental

Cherokee County Senior Services is seeking donations of teacups and saucers.
The cups and saucers will be used for tea parties at the Senior Center

Charity Invitational
The
Towne Lake Hills Tennis Club will be sponsoring a charity event to benefit
the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) on May 7 - 9. On Friday,
May 7 there will be a free Junior clinic and an afternoon cookout. That
evening, there will be a party with a live and silent auction and tennis
demonstrations by top local pros. To donate items for the auction or to

The
HOPE Center
The
Helpful Options and Pregnancy Education (HOPE) Center is a non-profit
organization designed to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs
of women who may be facing an untimely or unplanned pregnancy. The Center
offers a variety of services including free pregnancy tests, educational
materials, mentoring and long-term support, community referrals and more.
A variety of volunteer opportunities are available, ranging from a few

Kiwanis Annual Fine
Arts and Crafts Fair

Woodstock Kiwanis Club is sponsoring its 3rd Annual Fine Arts and Master
