Around Towne

by Cherryl Greenman

  Thank You!

We want to thank those Towne Lake area residents who braved Mother Nature and helped us celebrate our 8th birthday! Special thanks to World of Inflatables for the Moon Walk and Frankie's Italian Ristorante & Pizzeria. A special thank you to our friends at Publix and Store Manager Steve Campbell for donating a beautiful cake and drinks for our guests. Publix also donated cakes and drinks for The TowneLaker receptions at both Woodstock and Etowah High School Honors Nights.

What's New

What's Ongoing

The owners of the property located at I-575 and Towne Lake Parkway have requested a zoning change from R-40, single family residential, to a more dense R-30 and general commercial. Madison Retail, LCC plans to build townhomes and retail units on the property. The Woodstock Planning and Zoning Commission and the Woodstock City Council recently held a public meeting to consider the first reading of the request.

Road improvements scheduled for our area include:

1.   Auxiliary lane project at I-575 and Towne Lake Parkway to Highway 92 (between exit 7 and 8), is a Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) project. Construction is scheduled to start in late summer.

2.   Four-laning of Eagle Drive (just west of Bruster's) to Bells Ferry Road, a County project, has a scheduled start date of July 1. The anticipated construction time is 18 months.

3.   The design plans are still being completed for the Putnam Ford Road sidewalks (a County project) from Eagle Drive to Carmel Elementary School. The right-of-way acquisition and utility coordination also is continuing, and the County anticipates construction to begin this fall.

Pacific Spice
by Cherryl Greenman

Just a little north of Woodstock on Highway 5 is one of the best Thai and Chinese Bistro's around. Pacific Spice, located in the new Publix shopping center at the intersection of East Cherokee and Highway 5, recently opened its doors and welcomes everyone to come in and enjoy the unique menu.

Pacific Spice is an upscale restaurant with a beautiful décor and excellent food, offering several Thai entrees and an extensive selection of Chinese cuisine. In addition to the regular menu items, Pacific Spice has a specialty menu which includes Sea Bass, Beijing Duck, and Crispy Duck Tamarind.

The children's menu not only allows children the option of dining on a Chinese entree, but they can also choose chicken nuggets if Chinese is something they are not ready to venture into yet.

The appetizer list includes a variety of dishes including Mandarin Ribs, Calamari and New Zealand Mussels with a Black Bean Sauce. The soup list includes a very unique Hot and Sour Soup, Velvet Corn and Chicken Soup, and of course, Wonton and Egg Drop Soups.

Pacific Spice offers both Thai and Chinese lunch specialties, and for the vegetarian, there are several dishes available for the palate.

Pacific Spice is a sister restaurant to the Royal Bamboo II in the Kroger center at Highway 5 and Toonigh Roa and the Royal Bamboo I in Suwanee. Owner Dwi Lin welcomes you to Pacific Spice; it is a wonderful experience.
