Balancing Classes
Dr.
Tali Cluxton will teach muscle-strengthening exercises to improve posture
and balance. The classes will be taught each Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at
the Cherokee County Parks and Recreation Department. The fee is $5 per

Seminar
Northside
Hospital - Cherokee will present Living with Gastrointestinal Reflux Disease
(GERD) on Tuesday, June 15 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Karim Gani, M.D. will discuss
the origins of the disease and the latest treatments. Learn about the
long-term implications of GERD and how to cope with the symptoms. The

Habitat
For Humanity Ceremony
The
Cherokee Habitat for Humanity will hold a Community Partnership Ceremony
on Thursday, June 10 at 3 p.m. at the Justice Center in downtown Canton.
Representatives from all community service organizations, local businesses,
civic organizations, churches, schools, and city and county officials
are invited and encouraged to attend. The ceremony will be followed by

Hope
Center Summer Events
The
Helpful Options and Pregnancy Education (HOPE) Center is a non-profit
organization designed to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs
of women who may be facing an untimely or unplanned pregnancy. The Center
is holding several summer programs. On Thursday, June 10, the Center will
host "Breakfast with HOPE" at 7:30 a.m. On Monday, June 14, the "Legacy
of HOPE Fundraiser Reception" will be held at 7:30 p.m. On Friday, June
18, join the Center for "Lunch with HOPE" at 11:30 a.m., and on Saturday,
June 26 come for "Brunch with HOPE" at 9 a.m. For more information on

Gardener Seminars
The
Cherokee County Master Gardeners will hold two seminars in June. On June
5, the topic will be "Flowering Shrubs-Hydrangeas." On June 12, the topic
will be "Native Plants of Georgia." Both of these seminars will be held

MUST
Ministries, Cherokee Habitat for Humanity and Cherokee County Family Violence
Center will host a Community Service Fair on Saturday, July 19 from 9
a.m. - 12 noon with exhibits from 1:30 - 4 p.m. There will be informative
speakers on healthcare, education, business, law enforcement, and faith-based
and community service organizations. The fair will be held at Cherokee
High School, 930 Marietta Highway, Canton. For additional information,

Papa's
Pantry
Papa's
Pantry is partnered with area churches and other non-profits and provides
food assistance to the families in our community. The Pantry has recently
opened an additional location at 351 West Main Street in Canton. Lynne
Saunders, operator of Papa's Pantry, is excited about the additional location
and additional space, which was greatly needed. The Pantry is in need
of breakfast and lunch items, specifically dry cereal, peanut butter,
jelly, canned meats and boxed dinners. They also need laundry detergent
and toilet paper. Financial donations or non-perishable food items also
are needed. A donation barrel is located in the lobby of The TowneLaker
office at 1025 Rose Creek Drive, Suite 340. Volunteer opportunities are

People4Pets
People4Pets,
a non-profit humane society resource group, is seeking volunteers to assist
at the Cherokee County Animal Shelter, Cherokee County Humane Society

Summer
Safety Splash
Safe
Kids of Georgia in Cherokee County will host Summer Safety Splash 2004
at the Galts Ferry Day Use Area off Kellogg Creek Road on Lake Allatoona.
The event will be on Saturday, June 12 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Children
who attend the event will receive a free personal floatation device. Other
activities will include a kids fishing tournament, games, music, food

Summer
Scouting Camp
American
Heritage Girls, a Christian based scouting program for girls, will offer
a summer camp in Woodstock on July 26 - 30. The day camp will be held
from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, with optional overnight cabin

Trekkers
Walking Club
Get
fit and have fun by joining the Trekkers Walking Club. The Club is open
to all ages and will begin walking 2 - 3 miles in the Towne Lake Hills

Woodstock
Freedom Run
The
8th Annual Woodstock Freedom Run will be held July 4 at 6 p.m. benefiting
the HOPE Center. Come to the race and stay for the fireworks. There's
a 5K, 1 mile and tot trot. Prizes will be awarded. The cost is $15 before
July 1 and $20 after July 1 and on race day. To register, send a check
