Beginning Ballroom Dancing

Discover the wonderful world of ballroom dancing each Monday, July 12 through August 16. The lessons will include the Foxtrot, Waltz, Jitterbug, Cha-Cha and more. The cost is $45 for ages 11 and up. Classes will be held at 6 p.m. at the Recreation Center and no experience is necessary.

Cheerleading Clinic

A cheerleading clinic will be held on July 8 - 9 at the Activities Center. The clinic is for ages six and older and will help develop all aspects of cheerleading including sidelines, cheers, jumps, stunts and tumbling. Girls do not need to be a cheerleader to attend this clinic. The times are 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. with extended care available from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. for an additional charge of $15. The cost of the clinic is $65.

Pee Wee Tennis

The Pee Wee Tennis program is designed to teach children ages 4 - 8 how to play tennis. All equipment used is age-appropriate and is furnished by the CRPA. The sessions will be held every Wednesday, beginning July 14 through August 4. Class times vary beginning at 3 - 3:30 p.m., 3:30 - 4 p.m., 4 - 4:30 p.m. or 4:30 - 5 p.m. The cost is $25.

Silver Roamers

If you enjoy meeting people, visiting sites, and having a great time, the Silver Roamers Club is for you. They meet monthly to discuss upcoming events. The next meeting will be on July 12 at Anthony's on Bells Ferry Road at 11 a.m. Membership is only $20 per year, which allows you many benefits including discounts on events and trips. If you are interested in joining, simply stop by the Center and apply.

On Wednesday, July 14, the Silver Roamers will be going to Stone Mountain Park. Participants can ride the Skylift to the top of the mountain, take a train ride around the park, travel back in time at Crossroads or tour the Plantation Home. Walking shoes are a must! Individuals can bring a picnic dinner or money to purchase dinner from one of the many restaurants on the premises. The day will conclude with the Spectacular Laser Show - bring a blanket or chair to enjoy the show. The cost is $24 for members and $26

for non-members and includes all Stone Mountain attractions and transportation. Please bring extra money for goodies. The bus will leave the Canton Senior Center at 2:30 p.m. and the Recreation Center at 3 p.m.

Join the group as they take a trip back in time. The Silver Roamers will head to the Atlanta Cyclorama, which has the largest painting of the Battle of Atlanta on Tuesday, July 27. The story of the Battle is told through music, lighting, sound effects and narration. After the Cyclorama, the group will spend the afternoon at Zoo Atlanta. Participants can bring a lunch or purchase lunch at the zoo. The cost is $23 for members and $25 for non-members, which includes transportation and all admissions. The bus will leave the Recreation Center at 9:30 a.m. and the Canton Senior Center at 10 a.m.

Smart Start Baseball

Start Smart Baseball is an introductory program for children ages three through six. This program prepares them for organized baseball in a fun, non-threatening environment. Using Koosh equipment, parents will work one-on-one with their child practicing a variety of baseball skills including throwing, catching, batting and running. The program will be held every Thursday beginning July 8 through August 19 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. The cost is $65 and includes T-shirt, Koosh Glove and ball, a Mondo Koosh ball, a Koosh Bat and foam ball, and one Start Smart Baseball manual.

Tennis Camp

CRPA and Mark Billson will conduct tennis camps the weeks of July 12 - 16 and July 19 - 23 at Hobgood Park. The camps will be Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 12 noon for ages 5 - 15. Children will be divided according to age and ability and will receive individual attention in a fun environment, while learning tennis skills, rules and strategy.
