variety
of adoption agencies and attorneys; and even talk to adoptive parents
who have already traversed the sometimes difficult road of adopting. Experts
will be on hand to discuss the possibilities of International Adoption,
Domestic Adoption, Foster Care, Latvian and Russian Orphan Hosting Program
and even Special Needs Adoption. If you've been thinking about adoption,
this is the place to start - and it's not just for Christians.
"As
an adoptive parent, I fully understand the difficulties in getting information
that's trustworthy," says event co-organizer Lorraine Rose. "Before adopting
our daughter we spent many, many months just trying to figure out where
to start. Then it took us a long time to figure out what program was right
for us. This is the type of event that would have been very helpful for
us. We just hope to help people understand that where there's a will,
there's a way when it comes to adoption! The concert is a great addition
to the evening as well. We're really looking forward to hearing these
great bands perform."
Following
the symposium, a benefit concert, which begins at 7 p.m., will feature
popular Christian Rock groups White Stone and Job's Turn as well as the
vocalist Chrisy Marsilio.
Concert
tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door, and student tickets are
$8. Advance tickets may be purchased at The TowneLaker office,
Tailored Tots in Towne Lake, or Christine's Creations as well as at Liberty
Hill Church on Sunday mornings. All proceeds go to help bring three amazing
kids home from orphanages in Latvia. The Cherokee County Arts Center is
located at 94 North Street in historic downtown Canton, adjacent to the
Justice Center. For more information, please call Liberty Hill Church

Adoption
is often an intimidating, expensive and overwhelming endeavor. It's difficult
to know where to start, how to proceed and who to trust. The expenses
related to adoption alone can seem daunting. Yet, parents all over Cherokee
County have been adopting children for years. Families are built in many
different ways, and from domestic infant adoption to fost-adopt programs
to the adoption of older international sibling groups, for every seeking
family there is a child waiting. Now there's an opportunity to get some
help in finding your waiting child!
To
help take the mystery out of adoption, Liberty Hill Church is hosting
a day of help, Every Kid Deserves a Family - an Adoption Symposium and
Benefit Concert on Saturday, October 2 at the Cherokee County Arts Center.
The Symposium will begin at 2 p.m. and is free to the public. An adoption
expert panel will take questions from the audience from 4 - 5 p.m.
The
Adoption Symposium will offer a chance for people to hear an expert panel
discussion about adoption myths, truths and tips; meet a
