The Hobgood Indians presented Gina Carr with a plaque for sponsoring their All-Star team this summer. The boys said that without the help of their sponsors, they could not have participated in tournaments throughout North Georgia and at the World Series.

Players for the Hobgood Indians were Jake Ferentinos, Ryley Gilliam, Logan Icard, George Jance, Alex Martin, Tristan Mooney, Nicholaus Rosemund, Zac Sisk, Bryant Trimbur, Nick Tumlin and Michael Weber. Congratulations!

Lynn Laney and her son Geoffry.

Lynn Laney has been a Woodstock staple in the travel industry. She is Vice President of the family business, Laney International Travel, and she and her company have helped create lifelong travel memories for many area residents. Now it's time for the community to help Lynn.

Lynn, 36 years old, is in need of a liver transplant. As a result of a birth defect in her liver coupled with a blood infection several years ago, she has suffered severe damage to her liver. Lynn is also the mother of a eight year-old son. Doctors are working to keep Lynn stabilized until a liver can be found. The cost of a transplant is a staggering $200,000, and that's where the community's "trash" comes in handy.

A community yard sale will be held Saturday, October 23 at Kleven Boston Elementary School's cafeteria from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Community residents are encouraged to scour their garages, basements and attics for yard sale items to help make this event a huge success. The donations are all tax deductible. For those who wish to donate items, please bring the items to the set up, which will be held on October 22 from 6 - 8 p.m. in Boston's cafeteria. The yard sale also will include several vendors, food for purchase, and a raffle, all of which will benefit the cause. Vendors are still welcome to participate, and exclusivity is based on a first come, first serve basis.

This is a great opportunity to clean up the house and help a community member in need. A fund also has been set up for Lynn at SunTrust Bank, located in the Publix at Rose Creek. To donate to the fund, please send your tax-deductible donations to SunTrust Bank, 4403 Towne Lake Parkway, Woodstock, GA 30189 payable to the Lynn Laney Medical Fund, Attention Josh Baldwin.

Please contact Phyllis (Hazie) Hazekamp at (770) 924-3889 or email hazie@mindspring.com if you plan on bringing a yard sale item or to participate as a vendor.
