Blood Drive

Heritage Presbyterian Church will host a blood drive on Tuesday, December 14 from 2 - 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Donors will enjoy homemade desserts as well as enter to win a cruise and airfare for two to the Caribbean. The church is located at 5323 Bells Ferry Road in Acworth. Community Chorale Performances

The Cherokee County Community Chorale will hold two holiday concerts in December. On Sunday, December 5, the concert will be held at Hickory Flat Methodist Church at 3 p.m. On Monday, December 6, the Chorale will perform at the Falany Performing Arts Center at Reinhardt College at 8 p.m. For ticket information, please call Joan McFather at (770) 479-2976 or visit www.cherokeecommunitychorale.org.

Drama Classes

The Towne Lake Arts Center will hold winter drama classes. Registration begins on December 1. Students will write, produce and perform an original play with music. For more information, please call (678) 494-4251.

Evening of Fun to Benefit Lynn Laney

The Butchers Block, along with other local vendors, will sponsor an evening of wine, appetizers and music on Friday, December 3. The event will be held at the Towne Lake Hills East Clubhouse, upstairs, from 6 - 9 p.m. The cost is $20 per person and all the proceeds will go towards the Lynn Laney medical fund. Family Winter Festival

The merchants of the Towne Lake Village Center will sponsor a Family Winter Festival on Thursday, December 9 from 3 - 7 p.m. The afternoon will include horse and carriage rides, visits with Santa, hot chocolate and holiday treats, carolers, valuable prizes and more. The official Toys for Tots truck will be on display while the U.S. Marines collect toys for needy children. All the center's merchants will be involved offering samples from their menus, store discounts and great prizes. Papa's Pantry

Papa's Pantry is seeking volunteers to assist with food drives and fund raising. They take donations of food all year round and now accept fresh fruits and vegetables that have a "shelf-life" such as potatoes, apples, etc. For more information, call Papa's Pantry at (770) 926-7128 or visit www.papaspantry.org.

Pet Angel Fundraiser

The Pet Angel, a local pet sitting service, is sponsoring a fundraiser through the end of the year benefiting the Cherokee County Humane Society. The Pet Angel is requesting donations of items such as blankets, towels, paper towels, newspapers, animal shampoo, cat litter, food and treats. Donations can be dropped off at Bells Ferry Animal Hospital, 6410 Highway 92. The Pet Angel also can pick up donations by calling (770) 757-1738.

Pet Safety Program for Kids

Bear's World - Keeping Kids and Animals Safe Together is a non-profit program for Day Care, Pre-K and Elementary Schools. Fran Heffern and her four year-old Golden Retriever "Bear" teach dog bite prevention, proper pet care and kindness to companion animals. Santa Letter Fundraiser

The Woodstock Mothers and More organization is holding its Annual Santa Letter fundraiser through December 17. The personalized letters are $3 and will include the child's name, wish list, friends' names and accomplishments over the past year. The money raised will benefit the Woodstock Mothers and More, a non-profit organization, which supports mothers through education and advocacy efforts. Square Dancing Lessons

The Cherokee Squares of Woodstock will hold classes beginning on Tuesday, January 11 from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. The classes will be held at the Woodstock Jaycees Hall located at 216 Rope Mill Road, and the cost is $5 per person. Toastmasters

The Towne Lake Talkers, the newly formed Towne Lake Toastmasters Club, will meet each Wednesday from 12 noon - 1:30 p.m. at The Hearth at Eagle Watch. Travel Baseball Try-Outs

A new 13 year-old travel baseball team based out of Hobgood Park is forming. Coaches Joey Gilkey and David Birch are looking for a few high caliber baseball players who are interested in joining this new team, named the North Georgia Longhorns.
