American Red Cross
Baby-Sitting Course

This course is ideal for current and future baby-sitters. It will teach important skills needed to properly care for and supervise younger children. This is a very interactive and hands-on experience. Each participant will receive a baby-sitter's hand book and official certification. Please bring a sack lunch. The course is designed for ages 11 - 15 and will be offered on a school holiday, Monday January 17 at the Recreation Center from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The cost is $45.

Belly Dancing

Learn this fun and flexible Middle Eastern dance style and get a workout at the same time! No previous dance experience required. The classes will begin on Tuesday, January 4. Ages 12 and up will meet Mondays from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. and seniors will meet on Tuesdays from 10 - 11 a.m. The cost is $55 per month. Music Together

The goal of this class is to nurture a child's natural love and enthusiasm for music. This class is for parents and children ages birth - 4. The classes meet on Wednesdays beginning on January 5. Classes will be offered at 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. or 10:30 -11:15 a.m. The cost is $155 ($75 for additional sibling over 8 months; 8 months and younger attend free with registered sibling).

Non-Stop Action Camp

There will be a fun-filled camp during Cherokee County School's mid-Winter break, February 21 - 25. This camp will include lots of fun and games plus many exciting field trips. The camp is offered for children ages 6 - 12 and the cost is $115. Camp times are 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. with drop off from 7 - 9 a.m. and pick up from 4 - 6 p.m. Deadline to register is January 31.

Start Smart Basketball

This introductory program for ages 3 - 6 prepares children for organized basketball in a non-competitive environment. The season starts on Thursday, January 6 and sessions will be held from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. The cost is $65, which includes Koosh equipment, t-shirt and a basketball manual.

Fencing Fun for ages 11 and up is just one of the many programs offered at the CRPA Recreation Center. The Recreation Center is located at 7545 Main Street in Woodstock. For more information, call (770) 924-7768.

Silver Roamers

If you enjoy meeting people, visiting sites and having a great time, the Silver Roamers Club is for you. They meet monthly to discuss upcoming events. The next meeting for the Silver Roamers will be held on Monday, January 3 at the Recreation Center at 11 a.m.

Walk off those holiday pounds with the Silver Roamers Walking Club. The club will be starting up on January 4. They will meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Recreation Center Gym.

The Silver Roamers will be offering Lunch and a Movie on Friday,January 7. Lunch will be at Capers followed by an afternoon movie. The cost is $25 for members and $28 for non-members, which includes lunch and transportation. Please bring additional money for the movie. The bus will leave from the Recreation Center at 11 a.m.

On Wednesday January 12, the Roamers will be going to the Georgia Ensemble Theatre to see the hilarious and touching play Searching for Eden: The Diaries of Adam and Eve. The cost is $19 for members and $22 for non-members, which includes admission and transportation. The group will stop for lunch after the show. The bus will leave at 9 a.m. from the Canton Senior Center and 9:30 a.m. from the Recreation Center.

How about a short get-away to Brazil? The Roamers will enjoy lunch on Thursday, January 27 at The Fires of Brazil. This restaurant offers open flame grilled cuts of meat served by Gauchos along with an extravagant salad bar. The cost is $35 for members and $38 for non-members, which includes lunch and transportation. The bus will leave at 10 a.m. from the Recreation Center and 10:30 a.m. from the Canton Senior Center.
