From the

Towne Lake Business Association

Happy New Year from the Towne Lake Business Association (TLBA)! With the new year, a new challenge to the Towne Lake area already has come about. We are talking about the proposed interchange on I-575, just north of Towne Lake Parkway ("TLP") (see page 62 for details on the proposed interchange). What does this mean to Towne Lake area businesses and residents?

From the business perspective, a significant amount of traffic will be diverted from Towne Lake up to the Ridgewalk area where the new interchange is proposed. This means that many people from outside of Towne Lake who have shopped or dined here in the past may choose to patronize businesses in Ridgewalk since they will be diverted there. When considering that the traffic problems we are encountering on TLP primarily relate to congestion south of Towne Lake, this proposed interchange to the north of TLP does not seem logical; rather it appears to benefit Ridgewalk than alleviate traffic on TLP.

For the residents and visitors of Towne Lake, the proposed interchange will cut off immediate access to I-575 to and from the north at TLP and I-575. Think about some of the interchanges you have been to where access to an interstate is limited and remember what fun you had getting back on the interstate. Further, consider the congestion that will be created with an additional lane of traffic that will be merging with the traffic at TLP when entering I-575 southbound and exiting northbound, as a result of the access roads that will be created to and from TLP to the new interchange.

The TLBA opposes this proposal and encourages residents and businesses alike to attend the final informational meeting on this proposed interchange on Tuesday, January 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Woodstock Community Church and voice your opinions.

The Club at Towne Lake is not your average fitness center. They are different than the big chains and the small studios, and they help you reach your fitness goals.

The Club is an upscale facility, which provides several ways to get fit. The environment is fun and comfortable, and you'll never feel intimidated. You can indulge in a sauna after your workout and grab a refreshing smoothie on your way out. Bring your clothes and shower before work so you can start your day with us. End your day with a relaxing BodyFlow class and leave your stress behind.

Wait for equipment? Never! There's plenty to choose from and many ways to get an all over body workout. If cardio equipment or weight training isn't for you, there's a multitude of classes to choose from to suit your every need.

Assistance is always provided when you join and to guide you during your visits. They always help you get started (so you're not lost), map out a plan (so you have a goal) and put that plan into action (to get results). "Our customized, professional service is unique in this industry," said owner Wayne Kosbe. "Most gyms charge for any type of service provided after the sale. We provide our services because we want to help our customers get the results they wanted when they first joined," he continued.

The Club has a long-standing relationship with Towne Lake and the community. Established in 1996, The Club (formerly known as Towne Lake Fitness), has been the premier fitness center providing the tools for healthier lifestyles. The Club's amenities include a well-trained and certified staff, strength training, free childcare for members, saunas, group exercise, City Blends Café and personal training. Unique to The Club is their award winning hair salon, which provides the community with an experienced staff of color and cut specialists.

A new addition to the Club this year is Woodstock Physical Therapy. Physical Therapist Ross Brakefield provides a wide range of sport-specific programs applicable to everyone from children to adults.

Wayne and The Club have been members of the Towne Lake Business Association (TLBA) since its inception and he had served as its President for several terms until 2003. He currently serves on the Board of the TLBA.
