Blood Drives

The American Red Cross is currently experiencing a blood shortage due to cold and flu season. The following locations will host blood drives:

Friday, April 15, Etowah High School, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.Friday, April 15, Wal-Mart of Woodstock on Highway 92, 12 noon - 5 p.m.Thursday, April 21, Woodstock Community Church, 2:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Boston Craft Show

Kleven Boston Elementary School will hold a craft show on Saturday, April 16 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Sunday, April 17 from 12 noon - 5 p.m. Setup will be held on Friday, April 15 from 5 - 8 p.m. For more information or to rent a space, please contact Maria Kugelman at (770) 924-9533 or email kugs@bellsouth.net.

Charity Motorcycle Ride

Motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to join a charity ride in support of 14 year-old Tiana Welch, an ovarian cancer survivor. The ride will be held on Saturday, April 23 beginning at 10 a.m. from the Longhorn Steakhouse parking lot in Towne Lake. Registration is $30 per bike, plus $10 for a T-shirt. Cold Stone Creamery Fundraiser

The Cold Stone Creamery, located at 1432 Towne Lake Parkway, will host a fundraiser for the Armor 4 Troops Foundation, Inc. on Monday, April 11 from 6 - 8 p.m. The organization is a non-profit organization which helps protect our American troops. Family Health Day

The Primrose School of Bells Ferry will hold its Annual Family Health Day on Saturday, April 23 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The day of family fun will benefit the Tsunami Relief Fund through the Primrose Children's Foundation. Heritage Presbyterian Church Rummage Sale

The Heritage Presbyterian Women will hold its Annual Rummage Sale on Thursday, April 28 - Saturday, April 30 from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. The sale will be held in the church Fellowship Hall, 5323 Bells Ferry Road. Master Gardener Seminars

The Master Gardeners will present two seminars this month. "Container Gardening" will be presented on Saturday, April 9 from 10 - 11:30 a.m. at the Cherokee County Senior Center on Univeter Road. The second, "Herbs - The Plants with Many Uses" will be held on Saturday, April 23 from 10 - 11:30 at the Hickory Flat Library. Seating is limited for all seminars. Putts for Paws

The Georgia Canines for Independence (GCI) will hold its first annual charity golf tournament on Monday, May 9 at the Woodmont Golf Club in Canton with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. GCI is looking for sponsors and businesses willing to donate items/gift certificates which will be given away at the luncheon following the tournament. Skin Disorder Seminar

Northside Hospital - Cherokee will hold a skin disorder seminar on Monday, April 4. Dermatologist Paige Camp, M.D. will discuss the underlying causes of acne, rosacea, dry skin and many more skin disorders. Participants will learn about state-of-the-art treatment options. Young Miss Cherokee County Pageant

The Annual Young Miss Cherokee County Pageant will be held on Saturday, May 7 at E.T. Booth Middle School. Registration is at 10 a.m. with the Pageant beginning at 11 a.m. There are several age divisions from baby to 17 years old. Proceeds from the Pageant will to toward the scholarship program established through the Young Miss Pageants.
