The
TowneLaker and Sixes Living Magazine are pleased to announce
Kara Kiefer as the new Editor of the publications. Kara has been on staff
as the Assistant Editor since 2002. She graduated from the University
of Colorado, Boulder with a degree in Communications and is excited about
her new role. "I'm thrilled to be part of such a community-minded publication,
and I look forward to being the Editor," she said. Kara is married to
Mike and has two sons, Brandon, age 13 and Garrett, age 9.

Gala Raises Funds
for Charities
The
Junior Service League (JSL) of Woodstock recently hosted its third Annual
Spring Gala and Benefit Auction. The event raised more than $12,000 and
were distributed to the following charities: Challenger Baseball, Grace
to the Nations, the HOPE Center, Meals on Wheels, MUST Ministries and
Les Marmitons.
Annual
Woodstock FreedomRun Set for July
The
9th Annual Bank of Woodstock, Woodstock Freedom Run will be held on Tuesday,
July 4th at 7:30 a.m. Runners of various ages and abilities will take
their marks at the intersection of Main Street and Towne Lake Parkway/Arnold
Mill Road. Participants can run or walk the 5K flat, fast and shaded course
that goes up and down Main Street. The race is sanctioned through the
Georgia Run and See, Grand Prix series allowing a prize purse, which attracts
elite runners.
Tony
Crawford, pastor at Dayspring Church, started this race nine years ago
when he read that 20,000 potential participants were turned away from
the Peachtree Road Race. He wanted to offer an alternative. The alternative
is a family-friendly race, which includes something for everyone 1 elite
runners to children. The race kicks off a day of fun and family festivities
in downtown Woodstock for the 4th of July celebration.
Proceeds
from the race will benefit the HOPE Center, a crisis pregnancy center.
All registered participants will receive a high quality race T-shirt.
