Ellijay Wildlife Sanctuary Visits The TowneLaker

Garrett-with-Taz.gifIt was an ordinary work day at Around Town/The TowneLaker — until late one afternoon when "Grizzly" Craig Cylke stopped in with one of his rescues.  Craig brought along Taz, a 14-year old Lynx who is blind and deaf.  Taz has been living at the Ellijay Wildlife Sanctuary for 11 years; without the Sanctuary, Taz wouldn't be here today.  The reason for Craig's visit was to refill a candy and gum dispenser we have, located in our lobby, which is a fundraiser for the organization.

The Ellijay Wildlife Sanctuary is a non-profit, federal and state licensed, 50-acre facility that has been rehabilitating injured and orphaned animals for more 30 years.  It is run by Craig Cylke and his wife Debby.  To date, the sanctuary's dedicated staff has educated more than 100,000 children and adults through on-site course offerings, summer camps and mobile education programs.

The visit with Taz was amazing and the opportunity to not only see but also pet a Lynx was unforgettable.  But, we could tell there was an undercurrent of sadness in Craig.  His sanctuary was in desperate need of funds and donations, and the need is immediate and runs the risk of having to shut down.

Taz9.gifIf you love animals and believe in what Craig and his dedicated workers/volunteers are doing to help injured and orphaned animals, visit his website at www.wildliferehabsanctuary.org and consider making a financial and tax deductible donation.  Taz thanks you!
